Browning BTC 2 Trail Force Review

The Browning BTC 2 Trail Force Recon camera, Camo is a high-quality trail camera for an affordable price, equipped with all of the standard features required to keep it competitive while also boasting extra reliability and durability. Though the quality of the HD video is not as clear as you might find in a top-of-the-line trail camera, it is still more than passable, and the still picture quality is excellent.

Features and Specs

The Browning BTC 2 comes equipped with an 8-megapixel camera that takes both still photos and HD video, and its display features the date, time, moon phase, and temperature on every image for ideal tracking. The camera can be programmed to take time-lapse photos over a period of time, to be reviewed easily later.

Its night vision flash extends up to 65 feet for long-range viewing, and its software is designed to reduce blurriness. It also runs efficiently on AA batteries, and is encased in a camouflaged exterior for easy stealth photography.

Standout Features

One of the most notable features of the Browning BTC 2 is its impressive battery life. Even when set up to constantly monitor wildlife over a long period of time, the camera runs efficiently enough so that users do not have to switch out the batteries for months at a time.

Secondly, the camera quality is an amazing deal for the price: it is quite difficult to find an 8-megapixel trail camera that takes clear day and night photos for less than $150, but this one fits that bill.

Uses and Functions

The Browning BTC 2 is a good option for hunters looking to scout out an area prior to a hunting trip, as the camera can be mounted and left to monitor the activity of deer and foxes for days or weeks prior to the hunt.

The camera’s long-range flash and high quality nighttime photos also ensure that this activity will be captured on film, even in the pitch black. Thanks to its all-day function, time-lapse options, and efficiency, the camera can also be set up as a home surveillance unit on personal property.

Caveats

While the 8-megapixel camera on the Browning BTC 2 takes stunning daytime photos and impressive nighttime shots with very little blurriness, its video footage leaves something to be desired. This is particularly true of nighttime video footage, which is a bit darker and grainier than that produced by comparable trail cameras. To work around this, users would have to employ the camera’s multi-shot feature, which can take a series of pictures within seconds to simulate a range of motion.

If top-notch video quality is not as important to you as quality photographs and affordability, then the Browning trail camera would be a good bet. This would, of course, mean that the audio feature on the camera would be fairly useless, but if you are tracking silent prey, this may not be an issue. As an added bonus, the camera weighs just over one pound, making it easily packable for long trips, and once purchased, it is simple to program and use.
